Specifications 
Dimensions: seat height 17 1/4"; seat depth 18 1/2"; length 51 1/2" – note that these are the standard option, and we can generally supply to your own requirements, often at no extra cost. 
Frame: the framework is made from hollow-section heavy-gauge steel tube and is a fully welded assembly. Supports are equally spaced at maximum 49" centers. The finish is powder coated in a colour of your choice in colour combinations from the full RAL range. 
Slats: slats are produced from sustainable Vermont white ash, 3" x 1 1/4", and finished with a sustainable hard-wearing water-based lacquer. Timber slats are trimmed on site to the exact length to fit the desired space. 
Installation: on installation, the seat and shelf corner slats are mitred on site and steel plates are supplied to support the mitred joints. If shoetrays are required, they stop at the seat supports nearest the corners. 


Additional Options 
Variset VZ5 benches come with the option of shoetrays (Code VZ6). These are made from heavy-duty angle frame and .1 inch wire mesh. Other accessories include a security locking system and hanger numbering options. 


Why choose this product? 
The VZ5 is a single-width island bench, and the sister product to our wider VZ3 double-width bench. It is freestanding, so can be used in the centre of changing rooms to provide seating. While AJ Binns specialises in cloakroom and changing room furniture, this narrow island bench is very versatile. As the seat is less than 18 1/2" wide, it can be used in corridor recesses, for example. This enables designers to mix and match the VZ5 with our wider VZ3 option. 

The images above include typical installations. Take note of the photograph where the seat is used in the center of a changing room, while lockers take up all the available wall space. This means a freestanding bench must be used, and the single-width island bench is narrow enough to allow plenty of space to access the lockers. The seating can also be fixed to the floor – hidden leg fixings are supplied as standard. We can also supply alternative feet, including plastic and adjustable feet, and small and large casters. 

Design is key to our products. The Variset VZ range comes with optional shoetrays. These are a popular addition to changing room furniture, as it does mean that customers can store kit under the seating. When shoetrays are not present, low-level tie rails are used to ensure island bench units remain rigid. This means these single-width benches are stable, even on longer runs.
