Specifications 
Dimensions: overall height 67"; seat height 17 1/4"; seat depth 26"; length 51 1/2" – note that these are the standard option, and we can generally supply to your own requirements, often at no extra cost. 
Frame: the framework is made from hollow-section heavy-gauge steel tube and is a fully welded assembly. Supports are equally spaced at maximum 49" centers. The finish is powder coated in a colour of your choice in colour combinations from the full RAL range. 
Slats: slats are produced from sustainable Vermont white ash, 1 1/4" x 3", and finished with a sustainable hard- wearing water-based lacquer. Timber slats are trimmed on site to the exact length to fit the desired space. 
Installation: on installation, the seat and shelf corner slats are mitred on site and steel plates are supplied to support the mitred joints. If shoetrays are required, they stop at the seat supports nearest the corners. 


Additional Options 
Variset VZ1 benches come with the option of shoetrays (Code VZ2). These are made from heavy-duty angle frame and .1 inch  wire mesh. Other accessories include a security locking system and hanger numbering options. 


Why choose this product? 
The Variset VZ1 double sided island bench with backrest is a heavy duty option, made using ERW flat oval sections. The tubes used are around 30% thicker than most other benches on the market. For island benches, this ensures stability and strength. This makes it ideal for where you have long rows of seating. The backrest provides additional support. Samples of the VZ range have been tested and passed by the British Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA) for strength and durability. These tests involve simulating heavy usage in operating conditions. Both impact testing and continuous loading tests are performed to check both the initial strength and the continuing durability of the frame. 

The bench is part of our Variset system of co-ordinating products, which enables designers to mix and match seating, hooks, hangers and locks. The images above show these double sided island benches combined with our VZ7 wall benches and separate Variset hooks. The photographs also show the neat corner joins for fitting together the island bench with the wall benches. The coat hooks on the bench dovetail in neatly with the wall fixed pegs. Note that architects and designers can choose the colour of the metal supports to match their customers’ requirements.
